Moving 2005 Resource Database

We have a sql 2005 installation that has service pack 2 applied. All
the system databases apart from the resource database have been moved
from the default data directory to our own data directory on a
seperate drive and this went ok. We've done this basically to make the
back up process more efficient in our environment. The issue is that
we cant find a way to move the resource database to the new location
and this I beleive needs to be kept with the master database. We've
followed the BOL instructions for moving system databases but the
Alter script for the resource database fails as the resource database
doesnt exist in sysdatabases. I've tried simply moving the resource
files to the new location but then sql wont start as it cant find the
files.
Anybody have any ideas how to resolve this issue?

MichaelThe instructions in Books Online for moving the master and resource database
files should work. However, we made some corrections to the procedure in
April 2006. If you don't have the latest version of Books Online, you might
be running into a problem.
I suggest that you download the latest version fo BOL (see the link in my
signature) and then starting with step 7 (Start the instance of SQL Server
in master-only recovery mode...), see if you can get the resource database
moved. If you still run into trouble, please report the exact error
message you're getting.

Moving the database will affect the web because the data for the UI is =stored in SQL Server.
First you have to install the Reporting Services on the second box of =course, because there are many entries made during the installation =process which won=B4t be done without the instal process and just plain =copying.

Move or delete file after uploading via SQL2k DTS Package

I have scheduled a DTS package (once a day) to open and import data from a fixed field file which is sent to our server via FTP from a data service bureau. The problem is that yesterday's file ends up remaining in the same location, while the new file being delivered by the service bureau via FTP does not over-write yesterday's file -- the file is added with a new reference...

Example:
Yesterday's file name "CLM_CLI.789" -- Today's file name "CLM_CLI.6890". Is there any way for SQL2k to delete the file after it is uploaded, or can anyone offer advice about how to use some other method to move the older file to another folder each day??

I think you should be able to use xp_cmdshell to move the file to another directory.

databases have the drive letters of the original drives, and SQL Exec sees
the databases and brings them online. Is there some other process I should
have used? Is there a way to get SQL Exec to recognize the empty space on
the new drive? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Where can I find the Reporting Service setup ?
Is it linked to a particular version of SQLServer 2000 (Standard...)

MS Reporting Service for Client Application

1. We have Thin Client which is connecting to the Sql Express database. Is it
possible to use MS Reporting Service in Sql Express database.
2. What are the pre requisites shoule be there in my thin client to see my
reports in the thin client.SQL Express is not supported for RS 2000. It will be supported for RS 2005
with SQL Express but this will be a release after the release of SQL Server
2005. My understanding is sometime in the first half of next year.
What is your thin client? You can integrate reporting services multiple
ways. You can use URL integration (IE 6 works best). You can use web
services. Also, Visual Studio 2005 will have 2 controls, a winform and a
webform control. Note that these can work in local mode where no server is
required. There are some limitations (for instance you lose some exporting
formats, no scheduling etc) but in general pretty fully functional. You give
it a dataset and a report. Depending on what you want this might fulfill
your needs. In that case Express is just a datasource that you get your
dataset from. These controls will work in local mode with the release of VS
2005 (November).

>|||RS 2005 for Express is not available yet even in beta form. The controls are
available with the Visual Studio beta (which is currently release
candidate). The controls are free with VS. No licensing needed to create or
run the report. All is client side, you provide the report, you provide the
dataset. If you need server side and express then you will have to wait
until that combination is released next year. My understanding is that
Express has some other limitations (for instance, I think the data you are
going after has to be on the same box as the report, it doesn't support
cubes, etc).
